Volunteering

UPA welcomes volunteers. Children may volunteer if accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. We have a convenient central location in downtown Antigua, Guatemala. Our dogs love to go for walks around town. Spending time with lots of different people really helps socialize them. We really appreciate having volunteers help us with daily activities such as bathing, brushing and spoiling our dogs. If you are interested in learning more about dog training in general and clicker training specifically, come and practice with our trainer and dogs. Opportunities are available for short and long-term volunteering, as well as for fostering a dog while in Antigua. Help us get the word out. Our dogs are amazing.

Our Wish List

Foster homes:
Our dogs are so much more adoptable after learning to live in a home. Could you find space in your home or heart for another dog for even a short while? Of course, we need permanent, loving homes as well.

Supplies:
Old towels, dog beds, metal bowls, collars, leashes, brushes and combs, pet shampoo, sturdy dog toys and rawhide chews.

Food:
We feed Kirkland brand from PriceSmart and Science Diet. We feed Alpo dry dog food to the street population, also available at PriceSmart.

Flea-control products:
We use Frontline, Breakthrough and Revolution.
