Welcome to Unidos Para los Animales (united for the animals). Our organization is dedicated to helping animals in need and to the prevention of animal cruelty.
Unidos Para los Animales (United for Animals) is a registered non-profit association based in Antigua, Guatemala founded in 2010 in response to the large number of unwanted, starving, injured and abandoned animals in the Antigua area. UPA works with individuals and Guatemalan and American-based rescue groups to spay/neuter and vaccinate street animals in order to create stable, non-breeding, healthy animal populations.
UPA also keeps a small number of rescued adult dogs (and cats) at our centrally located Antigua halfway house, caring for, training and socializing them to increase their adoptability. We support our activities from our own pockets, with donations from caring individuals, and with money raised from the sale of donated and gently used items in a store located in front of our shelter. We receive no government funding and have not received any type of grant or large donation.
Pets in Adoption-all our dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered, are up to date on shots, deworming, and flea treatments. Most have basic obedience and walk well on a leash. Older dogs are house trained. Full and detailed files are available upon request on all our animals.
